They Matter

Addicts try in vain with drugs, or alcohol or even sex or food or misspent love affairs to fill their void. To no avail. They are all lies. Pity will not set them free. Only prayer. They truly wrestle not with flesh and blood. Pray for them. Real prayer. Armor wearing, on our knees, mustard seed weilding, faith flaunting, standing on the Word of God kind of prayer. He will prevail. Their war is a battle HE already won for them.

I think we are all born with an empty spot in our hearts. I honestly believe it is from where we were connected to our Lord before he formed us in our mother’s womb. As we were formed and became … man … we were made separate from Him. Like a branch that falls from the tree of life onto the earth. We became apart from Him.

Then begins the great journey. We spend the rest of our lives seeking Him. Trying to re-find that relationship with Him. Most of the time we are unaware how incomplete we are without Him. Until we find Him. Then we know … whew … the Lord is what we lacked all along.

Only He can fill that empty place. That place where nothing else would do.

Addicts try in vain with drugs, or alcohol or even sex and misspent love affairs to fill their void. To no avail. They are all lies. Pity will not set them free. Only prayer. They truly wrestle not with flesh and blood. Pray for them. Real prayer. Armor wearing, on our knees, mustard seed wielding, faith flaunting, standing on the Word of God kind of prayer. He will prevail. Their war is a battle HE already won for them. Already won for us. Because as much as we may not agree… their battle … is … our battle too.

They matter.
